Former farmhouse, c.1560-80. 2 storeys and attics. 3-cell plan. 3 windows.
Timber-framed, encased at the front and sides in late C19 gault brick,
plastered in mid C20. Slated roof, once thatched. An axial chimney of narrow
pink buff bricks with original sawtooth shaft, recapped in C20 red brick. An
external end chimney of C20 red brick to left. Late C19 3-light casements
with transomes; splayed reveals, and (at ground storey) hoodmoulds. C20
boarded and battened entrance door. Good and complete framing fully exposed
internally. Floor joists laid flat, and well-chamfered over hall and parlour.
A wide lintelled open fireplace in the hall. Close-studding with reverse-arch
windbracing. 2-tier butt-purlin roof, the upper tier also with prominent
reverse windbracing.
