3/16 Barn, 40m east of Street
Farmhouse
GV II
Barn; probably C15 core with alterations of C16 and C19. 3 bays. Timber-
framed and weatherboarded. Pantiled roof. A pair of late C20 boarded doors
at centre bay; evidence for opposing doorway now blocked. Fairly complete
widely-spaced C15/C16 studwork with arch wind-bracing at corners. Open
trusses have tiebeams with long thick arch-braces. A wallplate has a long
edge-halved and bridled scarf with a slight but distinctive splay, found in
the early C15 work at Street Farmhouse. Roof rebuilt and an outshut added
beside the road, in C19. Included for group value.
