GV II

House, c.1600. Former solar range containing two parlours with chambers over,
one of two cross-wings to former late C15/early C16 central hall range, no
longer extant. The other cross-wing (No 2 Lunt Cottages q.v.) is situated
opposite. Timber-frame completely covered in late C17 brick and later render.
Coursed sandstone foundations. Steeply pitched plain tile roof with gabled
ends. Off centre large sandstone chimney with two brick diagonal stacks. Two
storeys, three bays. First floor brick band. Round-headed doorway with C20
fanlight and glazed door. C20 casements on ground floor, two 2-light casements
above with wooden lintels. Unusual semi-circular extension at rear with hipped
roof, blocked doorway and two C20 casements, all wooden lintels. Interior:
late C17 panelling on staircase at north end, in ground floor room and on
chimney breast of bedroom above. Chamfered and end stopped ceiling beams.
