End cottages of a rank. Late C17. 2 storeys of lower elevation than
No 10. Rubble with ashlar window surrounds. Stone-tiled roofs. No 9
has 1 window to first-floor, 2 windows to ground-floor. Casements with
leaded lights. Plain square-headed doorway to left, with 4-panel door.
No 9A has 2 windows, 2-light leaded casements with stone mullions and
dripmould extending over both windows. Plain square-headed doorway to
left. Tablet between first floor windows with "D.W.S. 1697".

All the listed buildings in Church Street the Chantry Little Chantry,
Barton Orchard and the Catholic Church of St Thomas More, Market Street
form a group with Nos 7 and 9 to 19 Barton Orchard, Nos 5 and 6 and 27
to 31 (consec) and wall Newtown.
