Rose Cottage
II

Estate cottage. Early C19. Brick, rendered and colourwashed,
with hipped slate roof. Deep eaves. 3 ridge stacks. 2 storeys,
3 bays. Cross plan with canted ends. Windows are C20 and
Gothick casements. South front has windows in round headed
recesses. 3 Gothick casements and above, 3 smaller casements.
Projecting central bay has pointed recess in each side. East end
has central casement in round headed recess. Above, blank window
and insurance plaque with 3 dogs' heads and number. West end has
central C20 casement in round headed recess. Above, blank
window. Rear has to left, round headed blank recess. To its
right, C20 lean-to with casement, and in return angle, C20 porch.
Above, 4 casements, C19 and C20. This building is in the same
style as those in the Estate Village of Budby laid out by Earl
Manvers 1807-1812.
