Stable block. 1806, by W. Lindley for F. F. Foljambe. Ashlar
with graduated hipped slate roofs; ashlar dressings, plinth,
lintel band, 2 ridge stacks, 2 storeys, 9 unequal bays. Main
range fronting square courtyard with 3 single storey ranges and
two 2 storey corner stores, with pyramidal roofs. Central
projecting gabled bay has semi-circular arched carriage entrance
with spearhead iron gates, flanked to left by 4 round headed
recessed panels containing 3 glazing bar sashes and single door
with overlight. To right, 4 similar panels with C20 stable
doors; above, 8 glazing bar sashes, and above again, central
clock tower with chamfered plinth and moulded eaves and clock
faces to east and west. Above again, octagonal timber bell
turret with dentillated eaves and ogee domed cap with wind vane.
Stable yard, 8 bays, has stable doors alternating with glazing
bar sashes, and 7 bay open arcade on east side.
