8/175 Grove Cottage

GV II
House. Probably late C17. Coursed squared marlstone with wooden intels;
concrete plain-tile roof with brick gable stacks. Short front range with rear
wing. 2 storeys. 2-window front has 2-light C18/early C19 casements at first
floor, but at ground floor has a plank door to extreme right, a renewed 2-light
casement to left (originally wider with a rubble flat arch), and between them
has a further casement, possibly altered from a doorway. Steep-pitched roof has
stack to left on a gable parapet. Chamfered plinth, rendered to front, returns
around left gable wall to contemporary rear wing which has an old 3-light
first-floor casement above a 4-light casement which cants inwards to a recessed
plank door. Interior not inspected. Included for group value.
