Farmhouse, now 2 cottages. Early C17, subdivided into 2 dwellings late
C18 or early C19; later additions and alterations. Timber framed on
sandstone and brick plinth with painted brick infill and additions;
asbestos slate roof. One storey and attic; apparently of 3 framed bays
with central bay divided between the 2 dwellings. Framing: close-set
vertical posts with horizontal members to left and rectangular panels,
2 from cill to wall-plate, to right; corner posts to left gable end
may be reused cambered tie beams. C20 casements to left and centre
with late C19 casement to right; late C19 gabled eaves dormer directly
above centre window. Entrances tb left and right; C19 boarded doors
with bracketed pedimented hoods. Prominent red brick stack immediately
in front of ridge to right of centre and large truncated external end
stack to left. Mid-C19 two-storey gabled brick addition to rear on
right with contemporary brick lean-to to left. Interior: inspection
not possible at time of resurvey (January 1986) but likely to be of
interest.
