9/119 The Old Vicarage

GV II

Semi-detached house. Largely rebuilt in 1776 although this part mostly an 1852 extension. Ham stone coursed rubble and
ashlar; hipped Welsh slate roofs; brick chimney stacks. Two storeys. East elevation 5 bays, of which bays 1 and 2
project and bay 3 is slightly recessed. Sash windows of 12 panes in plain openings, blank lower bay 4. Pair of doors
with toplights to bay 3, set under flat stone hood on brackets. North side of 3 bays, with later C19 sash windows, with
bay 3 being a 2-storey angled bay window. Interior not seen. Attached on west side, and possibly incorporating most of
the earlier work, is Holm Oak (qv). (VCH Somerset, Vol IV, 1978, p60).
