Milestone. Late C18. Bath stone pillar with cast iron plaque plugged on. Stone about 320 mm wide and 250 mm thick standing about 500 mm high, rounded top damaged on right side: plaque 320 mm x 260 mm high with shouldered semi-circular top of 280 mm diameter; early incised lettering reads; "BRUTON" in curved head, "1 Mile" on plaque proper. The Bruton Trust, founded 1756, became responsible for this road in 1793.
