8/51 Village Pound and Bier House

GV II

Pound and bier house. Pound possibly C18, Bier house probably late C19. Ham stone rubble; bier house roof of Welsh
slate with bargeboarded east gable. Pound delinated by random stone walling averaging one metre high, no obvious gate
position unless it was where the bier house stands. Bier house single-storey, with simple boarded door in east gable:
whole much overgrown. The site and house presented to the village by Earl Poulett in 1933. (VCH, Vol III, 1974).
