fronting road of Nos 1-4
Bartholomew Thomas Almshouses
Walls, gatepiers and gates fronting road. 1905. Red sandstone coursed and squared rubble walls about 750 mm high,
saddle back coping, carrying low cast iron railings, set between pyramid topped piers about 1.25 metres high, 5:3:3:3:2
bays, with 4 simple wrought iron gates with uprights and diagonal struts. Simple and oddest detailing acting as a foil
to the gabled and dormered picturesque massing of the Bartholomew Thomas Almshouses (qv).
