GV II

Farmhouse. C17. altered mid C19 and mid C20. Roughcast, steeply pitched decorative clav title roof, decorative
bargeboard gable ends, brick stacks set in from gable ends and tp left of entrance. Plan: not clear, possibly 3 cell
without cross passage. Two storeys and attic, 3 bays, all C20 3 and 4-light casements, first floor window openings with
brick surrounds, C20 half-glazed entrance centre right, plank door right in flat roofed single storey mid C19 addition
opening onto single storey, 8 bay verandah, decorative clay tile and plastic roofing carried on square wooden columns
irregulary placed. Attics lit on gable ends, Interior : ground floor only partially sighted, centre 4-panel steeply
chamfered compartment ceiling cut by inserted partition, right chamfered beams with scroll stops. Abutting range of
brick farmbuildings to right, late C17 - early C18 in origin, but extensively rebuilt and not included. The impressive
expanse of roof at Newley Farmhouse may contain interesting and datable features.
