House pair. Late C18 or early C19. Red brick in Flemish bond. Plain
tile roof. 2 storeys. Dentilled brick eaves cornice. Shallow-pitched
hipped roof. Projecting brick gable end stacks. Regular 6-window front
of two three-light casements and central blind window recess to each house-
Segmental heads to ground and first floor windows. Boarded door with
trellised porch to No. 1 under first blind window from left, and boarded
door to No. 2 under first blind window from right. Rear lean-to. Brick
(re-used?) to left of door to No. 2 with grafitti date RW1700. Interior:
only partly inspected. No. 2 has central staircase plan, with stud partition
walls, chamfered cross-beam to right ground-floor room, joists of relatively
thin scantling, and plank doors. Right end fireplace has cambered head
with iron soffit, brick chimney breast extending full width of gable end
wall, and brick carved with raised door key.
