Date stone 1874 but factory founded in 1861.Commended for the excellence of its working conditions as early as 1862.Administrative building of stock brick with red and bluc brick dressings.Brick and stone capped eave cornice.Roof not visible.Three storeys,fifteen bays width.Southern three bays and one to north of entrance have gothic arches containing first and second floor windows.Windows mostly unbarred sashes.Entrance asymmetrically placed.Pediment above alsightly advanced entrance block with central gothic arch.Clock in tympanum with stone shields and bas relief carving.Stone faced ground floor with entrance doors;flanking windows and decorative plaques with the firm's monogram etc.The buildings and wall of the listed part of Fairfield Match Works form a group important in both the social and economic history of Bow.
