Pair of terraced houses with later shops. c.1776-88, as part of the Duke
of Manchester's development of Manchester Square on Portman land. Stock
brick with stuccoed ground floors; concealed slate roofs. 4 storeys. Each
3 windows wide. Altered Victorian shop fronts, but No. 8 retains
semicircular arched house doorway in architrave surround to left. Recessed
sashes under flat gauged arches, of red brick to No. 8. Stone coped parapet
to both fronts. No. 8 has original, geometric patterned, cast iron balcony
to 1st floor. Included for group value only.
