Screen with
14.3.75 front


Screen wall and entrance to cemetry. 1836. Stucco and stone.
Greek revival. Channelled rustication, entablature and
blocking course. Central round-headed gateway has archivolt
and applied Doric aedicule, the architrave of which bears
the inscription: "HERE THE WEARY ARE AT REST'followed by
Hebrew characters. The ends have flat pilasters supporting a
break forward in the entablature, the frieze of which has 5
wreaths. Panels between the pilasters. To the front are
decorative iron railings with spear heads, paired gates with
panelled gate piers at each end.
