HILDENBOROUGH
LQNDON ROAD (north east side)
No 122

House. Probably late C18, the interior altered in the late C20. Flemish bond
brick to the ground floor, tile-hung framed construction to the first floor;
peg-tile roof; brick stacks.

Plan: Overal L plan, the main range facing south. Main range 2-rooms wide,
the left hand room probably a parlour/kitchen originally with an unheated
service room in an integral rear (north) outshut. The outshut has been
provided with a stack at a later date and the partition between it and the
principal room has been removed. The right hand room also appears to have
been unheated originally, the stack added later. The stair rises against the
rear wall of the right hand room. Large C20 addition at the rear.

Exterior: 2 storeys and attic. Almost symmetrical 3-bay front with a C20
front door in the centre flanked by C20 timber casement windows with glazing
bars, 2 similar first floor windows, C20 gabled attic dormers. Roof half-
hipped at the right end, projecting left end stack, smaller stacks to the
right end and rear outshut.

Interior: Modernized but preserving a large open fireplace to the principal
room. The framing has square cut jowls to the wall posts.

Roof: Side purlin roof, the purlins truncated for the dormer windows.
