The Stocks
TQ 92 NW 13/441 4.6.52.

This house took its name from the stocks which once stood nearby. The building
was originally the mill-house of the Stocks Windmill adjoining, but later
became the Parish Poorhouse and subsequently 2 cottages. It is now again
one residence. L-shaped C16 or earlier timber framed building with plaster
infilling, the 1st floor of the north wing oversailing on the protruding ends
of the floor joists and brackets, with 2 small tile hung gables over. Steeply
pitched tiled roof hipped at one end and half-hipped at the other. Four casement
windows with small square leaded panes. Side elevation tile hung. Modern
addition to the west.
