Pair of houses, part of a terrace. Rainwater head reads:
"JBA/1837". Pebble-dash, probably on brick with stone
dressings, felted slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Top
cornice. Windows have wedge lintels and C20 casements.
Entrances with lintels flanking entry; overlights and 6-
panel doors, the lower panels flush; entry has plank door.
4 stacks. Rear has 2 outriggers, former watchmakers'
galleries. That to No. 48 is intact; ground floor
segmental-headed windows, one with horizontally sliding sash
with glazing bars; 3 entrances. 1st floor has long
horizontally sliding sashes, 2 of 3 lights and 2 of 5
lights, most with glazing bars. Interior has winding stair
and 1st floor benches and cupboards. No. 50 has some
remaining windows, interior not inspected. A good early
example of watchmaker's galleries, one of the few now
remaining.
