Ornamental garden sculpture, under a large parasol. Late C19. Of Chinese or
Japanese origin. Bronze status of a figure in armour, standing on a smaller
figure and holding a small pagoda. Said to be either a Buddhist guardian stand-
ing on a demon, or a deity crushing the mischief out of a child. Roughly hewn
stone base. Green-painted metal parasol. Feature of Chinese garden laid out by
the first Lord Crawshaw c1890-1900.
