GV II

Detached house. c1890. By TK Green, local architect &
developer, for himself. Red brick with tile hung 1st floor
having fishscale patterning and stucco dressings. Tiled hipped
roof with gables, gabled dormers and tall enriched brick
stack.
2 storeys, attic and semi-basement. Asymmetrical design with
irregular transom and mullion fenestration having diamond
panes to top lights. To right, gabled portico with four
centred moulded arch above which a stucco plaque displaying a
coat of arms with rampant griffin; round-arched doorway with
fanlight. A rectangular tower rises from right hand angle with
canted 3-light oriel with penthouse roof at 1st floor level,
Lombard frieze at eaves level, tiled roof surmounted by
louvred hexagonal drum with onion shaped cupola and finial. To
left, a 2-light window to each floor, then a 5-light canted
bay window at ground floor supporting a tiled balustrade to
4-light window above under a gable with bargeboards and small
4-light attic window.
