Dovecote. Probably C15 with some mid-C19 alterations. Coursed lias rubble
with tile roof. Rectangular plan. Entrance to east side has a square head
and chamfered surround (blocked); C19 entrance on west side has a brick
segmental head. Roof is of gablet form, the gables probably originally
forming entrance for birds. Internally, trusses have arch-braced collars
with clasped purlins. 19 rows of nesting boxes, with an alighting ledge to
every third row. A floor has been inserted. (Bond, C J: "The Estates of
