House and shop. C17 origins, remodelled early C19 with further mid-C20
alterations. Finely jointed brick, stuccoed at ground floor level with slate
roof and truncated brick stack at left side. Three storeys with dentilled
eaves cornice. Four bays. Four first floor 12-pane sashes and four second
floor 6-pane sashes. Ground floor is rusticated and has an entablature
enriched with lion masks on four engaged Corinthian columns. These flank a
C20 plate glass shop front occupying bays 3 and 4, and a door with a transom
light in bay 1. Bay 2 of the ground floor has a recessed C20 door which has
a transom light. Part of the original building is visible at rear; there is
some timber-framing and a rubble chimney stack.
