Dovecote. Early C18. Handmade brick with pyramidal stone tiled roof laid in
diminishing courses and surmounted by timber lantern with ball finial and
weathervane. Square plan. Two levels. Wide archway with cambered head in
south side. Interior: upper level has approximately 250 nesting boxes
arranged in seven tiers on all four sides with alighting ledges. (RCHM,
III, p 53, item 4; BoE, p 120).
