ODDINGTON LOWER ODDINGTON
11/185 The Old Post Office
Formerly two houses in row, now one. Right-hand house dated and
initialled R K/ 1728 on circular datestone between upper floor
windows. Left-hand house later C18, C20 extensions. Both houses
coursed, squared and dressed limestone, concrete tile roof, ashlar
and C20 brick stacks. Rectangular plan with flat-roofed C20
extensions at rear (not of special interest). 2-storey, 4-windowed
facade; 2 and 3-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements,
two C20 stone-mullioned windows flanking flush C20 door set back
within flat-arched surround. Floating timber lintels over windows
either side, 2-light casements with flat-arched heads over. Upper
floor windows with leaded panes, ground floor windows with
horizontal glazing bars. 6-panel door with upper lights glazed
within plain flat-chamfered surround left.
