Downhouse Farmhouse

Farmhouse. C18, much remodelled in C19. Rubble, but some good dressed and squared
work to west gable, Welsh slate roof. Broad frontage, two deep wings, back, forming
reversed U-plan, C19 ashlar stacks to gables plus heavy stack back, right, to ridge of
wing. West gable has buttress or respond at back angle. Two storeys and attic,
4-windowed, modern 2 or 3-light casements, except first floor, left, 2-light C19
casement. Off-centre, right, 6-panel door, of which 2 glazed, with late C20 glazed
porch. Gable, left, 2 small 2-light casements, wood lintols, ground floor and single
light above. Wing beyond this in dressed stone and with roof part stone slate.

Interior: ground floor, right, large open fireplace, stone hearth and heavy stone
cheeks. Some C18 moulded panel doors and shutters.
