26.4.57 Manor Farmhouse

II

Late C17, early C19. U-shaped block with later rear extension. Two storeys and attic,
now 1.2.1 windows. Hipped tile roofing, with moulded brick eaves. Red brick walling,
in a mixed (mainly English) bond, first floor band, plinth; some former windows now
flush-filled. Mainly casements but early C19 sashes of 16 panes on the front of the
south wing. The south side of the recessed centre contains the doorway, with a
5-panelled (top glazed) door in a solid frame, within a modern gabled porch. Inside,
the rail at the head of the staircase are oak slatted balusters; there are panelled
doors in architrave frames, and a massive chimney breast. Other elevations follow the
general design, but with altered fenestration; the south face of 3 windows having an
old central door (to a modern conservatory).
