3/23 Walls enclosing the East
Forecourt of Broadlands
House

GV II

Flanking forecourt walls, turned inward to meet a central gateway. 1899, by
C H Nisbett. The outer parts comprise tall outward-curving walls from the
corners of the east front of the house, being of yellow brickwork, in panels
separated by panelled buttresses, and crowned by a parapet, pierced with terra-
cotta ornament. The central tall gate-piers have ball finials; they are linked
to the outer walls by a zig-zag arrangement of a balustrade, of the same pattern
as the parapet of the outer walls. Included for group value.
