Houses and former shops (No 20 the public library). C18, C19. Stucco with a
tile roof. 2 storeys and attic, 3 windows. 3 flat-roofed-dormers with modern
casements, a modillion cornice. Victorian sashes to the 1st floor. No 16 has a
rectangular bay, with a frieze & cornice continuing above the doorway, which
has a fanlight and C20 ½-glazed door. No 20 has a large window within a plain
framework of cornice, frieze and pilasters, the doorway at the north side
having a fanlight & ½-glazed door. The 3rd bay (at the north side) is a carriage
entrance (to the George Yard).
