Description

SWANMORE JERVIS COURT LANE
SU 51 NE
4/24 Jervis Lodge
II
GV
Regency house. c1800. Walls of stucco, some joint marks, cambered openings,
stone cills: small area of flintwork with brick quoins and banding. Low-pitched
hipped slate roofing, wide eaves with moulded eaves band. The complex roof form
suggests that the 1st phase of construction was a symmetrical house of three
windows; an east side crosswing was then added and a full-height segmental bay
replaced the east side of the original front, now the south elevation of two
storeys, 2.2.1 windows. Sashes in reveals. The west elevation has a small
window above the entrance (at the north side), the doorcase having a cornice,
console brackets above panelled pilasters, panelled reveals, decorative fanlight
and 6-panelled door. The other elevations are irregular and have been altered.
Inside, there is the original staircase, and panelled doors in architraves.
