Milestone. Circa early C19. Painted stone with cast-iron plates. Rough square stone with cast-iron plates on two sides inscribed: B'stoke 1 and Alton 10. The Basingstoke, Preston Candover and Alton turnpike was opened in 1795.
A good example of a circa early C19 milestone with inscribed cast-iron plates.
