II

House. Early C19, altered c1860-70. Colourwashed brick. Slate
roof. 2 storeys. 5-window range. Central single-storey
extension with canted ends added c1860: central door with a
3/3 sash either side. Cast-iron railings above. Side bays each
have a plank door under a segmental head. The doors, replaced
in 1972, lead to internal passageways to rear, that to north
now enclosed in interior of house. First floor with a central
canted bay which once stood on posts before porch was added
below. It has 2/2 unhorned sashes either side of a sash with
4/4 vertical panes. One 3/3 sash right and left and a 2/2
horned sash to first floor of side bays. Gabled roof with
ridge stacks set in from gable ends. The rear elevation is
tarred and has various sashes and casements. Canted bay added
late C19 to north end.
INTERIOR: stick-baluster staircase. Marble fireplaces in north
and south principal rooms.
