GV II

Lychgate. Late C19. Water colour of 1850 shows a simple wooden lychgate in this
position. Granite ashlar with slated roof. Consists of 2 granite side-walls with
moulded corbels at the top, front and back. Between them are 2 granite gateposts
from which hang a pair of open-framed wooden gates fitted with cast-iron uprights
having decorative tops; cusped wood braces in shape of an inverted V. In front a
flight of 4 curved steps made of granite setts with granite kerbs; erected 1887
(plaque). Perimeter wall of granite rubble has shaped granite coping on the south
and part of the west sides.
