5/18 The Old Forge

House. Late C18 or early C19 with later alterations. Brick with Welsh
slate roof and brick end stacks. Rectangular plan aligned north-east/
south-west. Two storeys. North-west elevation has two windows, mid-C19
casements of two lights. Ground floor windows are deeper and have cambered
heads. Two brick pilasters rise to eaves and flank central early C20 door.
This has four panels and is under a contemporary gabled canopy. Brick
plat band. Rear elevation has mid-C19 brick catslide extension. The Old
Forge was formerly the parish post office. (RCHM, Vol I, p 17).
