C18 former gardener's house. 2 storey red brick steep hipped roof. C19
rear (N) extension in red brick and tile. S front faces into garden. 3
windows, parapet and central door. Sash windows with 6/6 panes and fine
rubbed brick flat arches. Single storey lean-to section on E end with wide
heavy framed door to garden and mullioned window to store. Late C16 high
red brick wall with flat buttresses and thickened base on garden side
extends from SW corner of Garden House for about 100 yards NW. Fine C18
wrought iron spiked barrier at end overhangs waterway enclosing S side of
kitchen garden. From SE corner of Garden House a tall C18 red brick wall
with broad external pilasters encloses the SW side of the kitchen garden.
The wall has tumbled brickwork and brick on edge coping at the top.
Running from the C16 wall to the SW corner of the C16 stable block, a
lower screen wall of similar brickwork closes the W side of the lower
courtyard. In it a wide gateway with fine C18 red brick gate piers. Bold
rustication of projecting 3 course panels. Recesses for gate. Tops
rebuilt with modern ball finials.
