Description

SHEEPWASH NORTH STREET (east side),
SS 40 NE
Sheepwash
7/94 No 1
-
GV II

Cottage (in row). Probably early C18 with C19 and C20 additions. Plastered cob
walls. Gable-ended thatch roof. Brick gable end stack.
Plan: 1-room plan which possibly once extended into the adjoining house to its
right. C19 rear outshot added and small C20 addition at left end.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 1-window front of late C19 or early C20 3-light
casements. C19 gabled porch with decorative ridge-tiles to right, C19 plank door
behind.
Interior not inspected.
Although in itself a very modest building this cottage is important in its location
as the first home seen on this road into the village and it contributes to the
generally unspoilt atmosphere of Sheepwash.
