Description

BRIDESTOWE

SX 58 NW

12/64 Pair of lime kilns at SX 50891

II

Pair of lime kilns, may originally have been part of larger complex. Circa late
C18/early C19 rubble with dressed granite voussoirs to arches. Plan now consists of 2 chambers at the front with hearths on the rear walls; the left-hand chamber has a smaller one opening off to its left and there is a similar one at the rear of both main chambers. Ruinous walls to the left suggest that the complex originally extended further that way. The principal chambers have round arches at the front above which is a tall wall. Ruinous walls to the left of the main structure.
