Lodge cottage. Said to be of 1812, timber framed and plastered. Of one
storey with attics and of 'L' shaped plan form. Half-hipped thatched roof over
front block returning with hipped thatched roof to the rear. Front block has
open colonnade across road side elevation and also at rear except where rear
extension required its infilling. 'Rustic' arcade posts and ogee arched heads
on ends. Large gault brick stack through rear slope and white painted boarded
gabled dormer to rear. Windows are Gothick, pointed timber casements set into
square surrounds, with blue coloured glass infill in central top spandrel.
The rear has some double hung sash windows with small panes and leaded light,
cast iron casements. Console brackets support ceiling beams on inside and
some contemporary doors and skirtings. Elaborate fire surround of early
Victorian period of painted wood with half length herms.
