Description

ROCHFORD DOGGETTS CHASE
TQ 89 SE
6/198 Granary approx. 75
metres south west of
Doggetts Farmhouse
GV II
Granary. Early/mid C19. Timber framed and weatherboarded. Grey slate roof.
An intact and unusually large granary showing the prosperity of the farm at this
period. It stands on 7 x 3 staddle stones. Through bracing to walls, side
purlin ridge board roof. 2 vertically boarded doors. There are 10 numbered
bins, each with timber slots to house the moveable partitions. Although the
walls are not boarded internally there are solid timber "run-offs" to all angles
where structural angles meet and seed would otherwise collect.
