GV II
Garden walls and gateway. Mid C18. Red brick. Borders road for approximately
60 metres, turning at N end to continue for further 80 metres. Approximately 3
metres at highest point. Stone coped rectangular piers at angles. Upper half
of wall is recessed, with pilaster strips at intervals projecting to same line
as lower part of wall. To centre of section bordering road is gateway divided
in to 3 bays by pilaster strips. Central bay has small round-headed archway
with C20 wrought iron gate, outer bays have small round-arched recessed
panels. Outer piers have moulded stone cornices and ball finials. Walls
flanking gateway rise to full height in 3 stages with short stretches of
sloping wall between.
