Early-mid C19. Pleasantly proportioned hotel in Georgian style, large for
this size of town. Coursed and dressed rubble, ashlar quoins and dressings.
Stepped eaves cornice. Slate roof with coped verges and overshot eaves; small
central ashlar chimney. Three storeys and cellar. Six windows, glazing bar
sashes, except ground floor which has typical post-war public house glazing
and an angular bay. Now only one doorway, central with moulded open pediment
on cut stone brackets. Double half-glazed door. Above on 2nd floor a large
moulded plaster panel (for inn sign). Other features: plinth, plain band
course at 1st and 2nd floor levels. Gabled rear extension.
