Built between 1922 and 1933 as a Memorial of the 1914-18 War. Architect,
Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. A court of nine sides, open on the west. Grey
brick with a pantile roof. The principal block is the east wing. Through
the centre is a round-headed rusticated archway enclosing fluted columns
with an opening in the head of the arch. Block of 3 storeys and 9 windows
on each side of this ending in L-shaped end portions of lower elevation,
2 storeys and 3 windows, the end window bays flanked by fluted columns.
Behind, quarter octagonal sections lead to longer parallel wings running
east-west.
