G.V. II
Hall house, now house. Late C15, extended early C17, altered and
extended C20. Part timber framed encased in painted brick, part
painted brick. Old tile hipped and gabled roofs. L-plan of 2 x 1
framed bays with later side and rear extensions. Part one storey,
part 2 storeys. One ridge chimney to left of centre, 2 other chimneys
on roof slopes at rear. Irregular front. C20 casements with glazing
bars. Right hand section C16, with gablet breaking eaves and three
2-light casements on ground floor. C20 planked entrance door to left
with sidelights, under a hipped porch on 4 posts. Most of the timber
frame exposed in old section; with large jowled posts, large curved
wind and knee braces. Arch braced collar trusses at end, redundant
crown post truss in centre.
