Handed pair of cottages, now combined. C18. Timber framed, plastered, roofed
with handmade red clay tiles. 4 bays facing S, with central chimney stack.
Lean-to single-storey rear extension with slate roof, C20. One storey with
attics. 2 C20 casement windows, 2 more in swept dormers. Central flat-roofed
porch with side door, C20. Gambrel roof. The interior has 2 large wood-burning
hearths, with brick arches supported on iron arch-strips, each with 2 blocked
apertures for an oven, removed. Axial beams (one of which is re-used), exposed
joists. Both original newel stairs are present, in the rear corners. In each
cottage the internal tiebeam is interrupted by a strongly framed doorway,
original.
