Rose Cottage

(Formerly listed as Penpont Cottage)

GV II

House. Late C18 - early C19, with later alterations and additions of C19 and C20.
Stone rubble, with the upper level in cob; painted at ground floor level and rendered
above. Asbestos slate roof with gable ends. Gable end stacks with brick shafts, a
C20 replacement to left.
Plan: 2-room plan, with larger room to left and smaller room to right, each room
heated from a gable end stack. Off-centre entrance to right. C19 unheated lean-to
to front left.
Exterior: 2 storeys, nearly symmetrical 3-window front. First floor has three 16-
pane sashes in exposed boxes of early C19. Ground floor has 4-panelled door with 20-
pane sash in exposed box to right and left. Single storey lean-to to front left with
slurried slate roof, 3-pane light to front and stable door of C19 to right side. The
left side has large stepped external stack. Right end has single storey rubble shed
with slurried slate roof attached, with plank door to front.
