1/48 Coldrenick House (formerly listed
as Coldrenick Stables)

23.1.68 II

Stables, now house. Early C18 with C20 alterations. Coursed squared greenstone
rubble, with granite quoins. Hipped slate roof.
Plan: Rectangular plan with a central entrance ; the internal arrangement alatered
when converted from a stables to a house.
Exterior: 2 storeys on plinth and symmetrical 7 bays, with granite quoins, first
floor band course and moulded eaves cornice. Ground floor has central C20 double
doors with fanlight, set in a re-used C17 doorframe in granite with 4-centred arch,
recessed spandrels with roundels and segmental arch over. To right and left, 3 C20
12-pane sashes with segmental heads. First floor has central paired 6-pane sashes,
6-pane sashes with flat stone heads to right and left. Pair of fine early C18
rainwater heads to right and left of centre bay, re-used from the former Coldrenick
House, dated 1724. Left side has single storey C20 flat-roofed addition and C20
window at first floor. Right side has ground floor C20 glazed door with stone
segmental arch, 2 C20 windows at first floor. Rear has C20 doors and windows, and
flat-roofed dormer.
