SW 83 NE GERRANS TREWITHIAN

3/49 Thatched Cottage

Small house. Probably early C18. Painted slatestone rubble and cob walls with
wheatreed thatched roof and large external, stone stack to right gable with brick
chimney. Left gable end adjoins building site. 2 room plan plus single storey
extension to right side and rear. 2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical 2 window south
front. Central doorway with top glazed C20 door and shallow buttress piers forming
porch with slate lean-to roof. Wider ground floor windows with 4-pane, 2-light
casements. Wooden lintels. Heightened first floor openings under thatch eyebrows
with 4-pane, C20 windows.
Interior much renewed but splayed fireplace with bread oven survives. Roof structure
not inspected.
