SW 7525 MANACCAN

7/56 Barn at approx 30m south of Kestle
- Barton Farmhouse and Kestle Cottage

GV II

Barn and shelter shed at rear. Circa mid C18. Stone rubble and painted cob walls,
wooden lintels. Steep half-hipped scantle slate roof.
Rectangular plan: grain store over shippon plus single storey shelter shed at rear,
right.
2 storeys. Slightly irregular 2-window east front. Doorway, left of middle with
loading doorway off-set to left, over. 6-pane hopper, windows to ground floor and
taller 2-light, possibly original, shuttered windows over. Left-hand side adjoins
further barn (separate item) right-hand side has wide doorway to ground floor and 2-
light C18 window over. Ground floor doorway has reused C16 and C17 moulded granite
jambs with diabolo stops (the moulded lintel is reused as grounder at right-hand side
of front). Reused oak lintel over doorway. Ledged doors, those to ground floor with
ventilation slits.
Interior not inspected.
One of the most complete C18 barns in this part of Cornwall.
