First World War war memorial with additional inscription panels for the second
world war. Circa 1919. Granite ashlar. Large squat obelisk on chamfered base.
Inscription panels on base of obelisk, those to the First World War integral,
those to the Second World War applied. Obelisk has carved panels at the top
depicting the symbols of Sacrifice, Endurance, Victory and Courage. Obelisk
surmounted by granite sculptured stylized eternal lamp on moulded base. Bronze
lettering and a bronze frieze of laurels at the top of the obelisk are applied to
the granite.
